Storing and reading notes

You can store and read notes on your iPod.
But all these notes can come into your iPod only as plain text files.
These plain text files - with a .txt extension - can be generated in programs like Windows NotePad or TextEdit on a Mac.
You can also use word processing documents from, say, Microsoft Word or Apple-Work, but only after saving them as plain text files.
To save your document in plain text format,

  1. Create a document in, say, Microsoft Word.
  1. Save it as plain text in a convenient folder.

Now, enable your iPod nano as an external disk.
  1. Plug your iPod nano into the computer.
  1. In iTunes, select iPod nano in the Source List.
  1. Click Summary in the main iTunes window.
  1. In the Options section, select "Enable disk use."
  1. Click "Apply" in the lower right corner of the screen.

Now check your computer.
  1. If you are using Mac, you will see the iPod nano disk icon appearing on the desktop.
