Stocks

For these operations we are using iPhone visuals since the iPod Touch and iPhone work exactly the same way.You can keep track of stock markets through the Stocks application.

  1. Tap Stocks on the Home screen.
  1. The next screen lists some index funds - like Dow Jones - and stocks, like Yahoo and Google.
Against each, the current quotes appear.
  1. These quotes may be delayed by around 20 minutes - as mentioned at the bottom of the screen.
If a specific market is closed, a Market Closed message appears.
  1. The change in price - from the previous day's closing levels - is also indicated against each entry.
Tap it once - and all changes are shown as numbers.Tap it again - and these switch to percentages.
  1. In our demo, percentage changes are currently shown.
These appear on a green background, if prices have gone up. If prices are down, the background is red.
  1. A graph, in the screen's lower half, shows price movements.
Various options- appear above the graph. These are abbreviations for one day, one week, one, three, or six months, or one or two years. The currently selected option is highlighted in white.
  1. Tap a stock, say Google.
In the lower half of the screen, a Retrieving Data message appears.
  1. Now, tap an option, say 1m.
1m gets highlighted. The graph changes, and shows how Google's share price has moved over the past one month.
  1. Tap another option, say 1w.
1w now gets highlighted, while a Retrieving Data message appears. The graph again changes, showing how Google's share price has moved over the past one week.
  1. Next, tap the isymbol at the bottom right.
The screen swivels around, and a Stocks screen appears. This has names of funds and stocks already on your iPhone.
