You can redeem an iTunes Store allowance, gift certificate, iTunes Gift Card or promotional code.

For this, you need an iTunes Store account.

If you don't, you must create one. However, you will not be required to submit credit card information while creating the account.

Go to Store under the iTunes menu and select Home.
