Home Screen Applications


  1. Your iPhone application icons appear on its Home screen.
  1. In its default setting, the Home screen has
    • 4 icons - Phone, Mail, Safari, and iPod - in its bottom row
    • the Text, Calendar, Photos and Camera icons in the top row
  • the YouTube, Stocks, Maps and Weather icons in the second row
  • the Clock, Calculator, Notes and Settings icons in the third row, and
  • the iTunes and App Store icons in the fourth row.
  • The Home's screen's Contacts icon appears on the second page.
This is its default setting.
  1. To launch any application simply tap its icon once.
  • With Phone you can quickly access - and call - recent callers, favorites and all your contacts. Or dial a number directly using the numeric keypad.
  • With Mail, configure your email account on the iPhone. Use it as you would use any another email application on your computer.
  • Surf the Internet using Safari. Customize your viewing, sync or create bookmarks, add web clips to the Home screen, save images to your Photo library.
  • With iPod, listen to songs, audiobooks, and podcasts. Create on-the-go playlists and Genius generated playlists. Watch movies and video podcasts in widescreen.
  • With Text, send and receive SMS text messages with anyone who has an SMS-capable phone.
  • At any point, view a history of these messages.
  • With Calendar, view the calendars you've transferred from calendars on your computer. Enter events on your iPhone and get it synced back to the calendar on your computer. Set alerts to remind you of events, appointments, and deadlines.
  • With Photos, view photos and images transferred from your computer, or saved on iPhone. View them in portrait or landscape mode, zoom in and out, watch them in a slideshow, assign them to contacts, ...
