Manually set up your email account


        1. Suppose, for whatever reason, you have not configured your email account on your computer.

              1. It is still possible to manually set it up on your iPhone 3G.
                    • Press the Home button.
                    • The Home screen opens.
                    • Tap Settings.
                    • The Settings screen opens.
                    • Tap "Mail, Contacts, Calendars".
                    • The Mail, Contacts, Calendars screen opens.
                    • Under Accounts, an "Add Account…" option is offered.
                    • Tap Add Account.
                    • The Add Account screen opens.

                          • 6 types of accounts are offered
                          • Microsoft Exchange
                          • MobileMe
                          • Gmail
                          • Yahoo! Mail
                          • AOL
                          • Other

                                • Tap Other
                                • A New account screen opens
                                • At the top you are advised to "Enter your account information".
                                • For the purpose of this demo, we are entering details of a POP account
                                • Tap the Name box and bring up the onscreen keyboard.
                                • Now, enter your account information.
                                • Under Name, enter your name.
                                • Under address, enter your complete email id.
                                • In the next line, enter your email account password.
                                • In the last box, your email ID appears as the default description of your account. If you wish, you can enter another description, say, "personal_mail".

                                      • Finally, tap Save at the top right.

                                            • A rotating wheel icon appears at the top left.
                                            • To the right of the icon, a "Looking up account information" message appears.

                                                  • Soon, a New Account screen opens.
                                                  At the top, a line says "Enter your account information".
                                                        • Below New Account, 2 options are offered - IMAP or POP.
                                                        • For this demo, we are choosing POP.
