You can use shortcuts while typing punctuation on your iPhone.

  1. For instance, you can type punctuation with one touch.
  1. Usually, you need to switch between the letters and numbers keyboards while typing punctuation.
  • Open, say, the New Note screen.
  • The letters keyboard automatically comes up.
  • Start typing.
  • When you need to insert, say, a comma, tap the .?123 key.
  • The number & symbols keyboard opens.
  • Tap the comma key.
  • Next, tap the ABC key to return to the letters keyboard.
Alternatively, tap the space bar to return to the letters keyboard.
  • Either way, the letters keyboard opens.
  • The comma appears after the typed word.
  1. There is a shortcut to this entire process.

  • Start typing.
  • Say, you now need to insert a comma.
