Status Bar Icons


Your iPhone's status bar is at the top of its display screen.
Various icons appear on it.

  • The Cell Signal icon is at the extreme left.
  • It shows whether you're in the cellular network range.

  • The number of bars indicates signal strength.
The more bars, the stronger the signal.
  • If bars are seen, you can make and receive calls.

  • The Airplane icon indicates your iPhone is in airplane mode.
    • No network activity is now possible.
You cannot use the phone, access the Internet, or use Bluetooth devices.
    • However, non-wireless features - like iPod, camera, photos and calculator - continue to be available.

    • The EDGE icon indicates that your carrier's EDGE network is available.
    You can now connect to the Internet over EDGE.
    • The 3G icon shows that your carrier's 3G network is available.
    You can now connect to the Internet over 3G.
