HIDING AND UNHIDING ICONS FROM THE NOTIFICATION AREA


By default not all notification area icons are visible at all times. Windows 7 hides buttons so that the tray does not become cluttered.We can however configure the notification area or the notification area to display all icons.1. Right click on the taskbar. A Popup menu appears.2. In the popup menu that appears click on properties, the last item.In the first tab under the task bar, the second panel is the notification area customization panel.3. Click on the customize button.The all control panel items> notification area icons panel opens.Note that right at the bottom there is a check box beside an option which says always show all icons and notifications on the task bar.4. Check this box.5. Hit okay.All the icons now show up linearly on the notification area.With the option show icon and notification, icons appear directly in the notification area, and display any notification the application needs to convey.This is not the default behavior, though.6. Right click on the taskbar again and choose properties.7. In the notification area customization section, uncheck the always show all icons and notifications on the task bar box.8. Click on the Restore default Icon Behaviors option to restore the default status.9.
